So...can anybody tell me what happens when everybody comes together and builds. How does THAT help Kansas get out there to a nationwide audience? Especially when this is a competitive business with crabs in a bucket mentalities. How does Kansas rappers uniting and working together going to help ANYTHING? I want to know how that works. Please no Atlanta or Texas comparisons.
Brining people together isnt the key, but bringing people down doesnt work either. Im not saying lets have a Boys From Kansas remix and have markie mike game rookie cadence kae wun jesus and allah all on it. But the dissing shit is played, TRUST ME I KNOW. Like I respect Markie and Kaewun alot, but youll never hear me on a track wit em. They got they own styles and that shits hot. So I just enjoy and respect what they doing. Uniting isnt the key, because based on styles alone, everyone cant do a track together cuz everyone is oh so different. Everyone bringing they A game is what will get Kansas noticed. Cuz if one person gets looked at, they gon look at the people theyre competing with and if everyone's hot everyone will get a chance. But again, Im not everyone else. I love music so I make it. If someone somewhere thinks Mike Game needs to be heard on a national level so be it, but as long as someone somewhere loves my shit, thats enough for me.

I agree with both Stringer and XV. Like I know people get mad when I say shit like "If you aint on Illprint then you suck". I dont mean it literally, its just that Im tryna convey how much Illprint means to me. Like before I started on this new mixtape, I listened to some Markie, XV, Gator Made, Lil Sixx, and Cadence. Why? Because I wanted to be influenced by people from the city I live in. Im not from here, so I gotta get in that Dub K State Of Mind. And the #1 reason wichita wont have a chicago/houston/atlanta/miami movement is because we dont have that first person. Before Kanye and Lupe the Chi had Twista and Common in 92. Houston had the Geto Boys and UGK on major labels in 92. In 94 Outkast and Goodie Mobb were on major labels. In 88 there was 2 Live Crew and 96 there was Trick Daddy before Rick Ross and the likes. Realisticly, its easier just making the music rather than tryna be the dude who gets signed first. Even Detroit had MC Breed in 92 way before Em in 99. I mean the Midwest dont get alot of love. You gotta be super mega commercial (and wack) to get love. I mean Nelly put on STL, but the music wasnt that great. And who else got signed from STL? Niggas that were wacker than Nelly (ie Chingy and J-Kwon). Based on the Nelly Principle, I think fuckin wack ass Bizniz Kid will get signed and the next artists who'll get sign after him would have to be wacker than him. Just based on the Nelly Principle, it doesnt mean Bizniz is the greatest thing in Wichita (Id rather listen to Jaxter than Biz).
Honestly, Id love to see the hard work XV Kaewun and Cadence have been doing to pay off and I turn on MTV (because I had to stop watching BET) and see "Loser Mind" or "Do Your Thing" or "He Dont Even Like You" on there. Mike Game will prolly end up touring with Atmosphere or Little Brother on some major independant shit. But really we all should make putting Wichita on and uniting Wichita in the back of our thoughts and just focus on making the best shit ever.

I want everyone to know that I truely fuck with Wichita hip hop. I'm a fan first and foremost. I support the scene. I OWN albums from most of the people on the site. I started the site because I felt that there was no one place to get eveything related to Wichita hip hop in 1 place. Considering that wichitahiphop.com closed a long time ago. I also wanted the site to be different than wichitahiphop as most of us know how shittastic that site ended up. Shout out to the dudes that ran that though.
I say this to emphasize that this is something that I love and not just something I do for the fuck of it.
I don't think coming together and doing music Is the problem. The problem is the most of these dudes doing this are just treating this as a hobby. We need more artist, more people making this nusic because they LOVE to make music.
People also need to treat this game like a buisiness. I get countless e-mails from people that want me to post their music but have done NOTHING to invest in theirselves. They have no mixtapes no radio plays they don't even have photos for me to post. That shit is a joke. If you want Wichita to get on YOU as rappers need to do something about it. Market yourself and you market our city. Because people aren't checking for wichita.
Schedule a photoshoot. Get some real production, schedule some studio time or take your ass up to guitar center and step your home studio game up.
This is a buisness. Treat it like one. Do that and everyone benefits from it. Nelly didn't get on by getting on songs with st louis people, he got on by making good music and promoting himself night and day.
I was thinking about doing a ict hip hop show. NOT a club event with people performing but a show where the performers were the event. But then I started thinking, who is going to show up? Are you all as artist going to help promote this event and get as many people there as possible? I don't know.
When people come out with records go out and buy them. That's the only way were going to get noticed. This business is all about the money. The more local music is purchased the more options business will open up for local music.
Sorry I'm just ranting. I think I'm going to open up a forum I just don't want it to turn out like whh did.

OMG, K Will, I was talking to few cats bout doing something like that as a monthly deal. I know places that charge 200 to rent it out, you get 4 acts together thats 50 a piece. Throw in a lil more change for promotion, charge 5 a head, and if each act got 10 people a piece to show up they make they investment back, and then after that itd be gravy. But it fell apart because no one wanted to do that extra leg work. I love this music, and I try to do the best at it. And whenever got me a good day to do nothing, Im recording. I got that 9 to 5 so Im constricted by time. And despite my lil conflicts at times, I often do what I can for who I can. If you wanna record music, but dont got the funds for ya own studio or studio time, Ive opened my studio up and charged bargain rates. 10 a song and shit like that. When I was away during Army Training, best believe I had some Wichita shit bumping. Niggas hated on me bout wichita cuz they was like "what the fuck is in kansas" then that Jan 07 source dropped wit xv in the back, then niggas understood.
Like Ive said, I love hip hop to the death. Ive been writing and battling since 98 and recording since 04. I got Illprint tat'd on my wrist, thats my crew. So I dont honestly see giving up rap in my future ever. Even if Im 35 years old and shit, at some desk job somewhere, Ill still have a booth in my basement and record shit to listen to in my cubicle. Cuz I love Nas and Ghostface, but theyll never be able to make me feel the way I feel when I hear my own shit.

If you listen to “The Music Experience” you can TELL! It’s an experience…I talk about this city I talk about other rappers. Rap to me is becoming a FAD! People think that rapping makes you this type of person, or puts you in a class all by yourself actually it puts you in the same class with everyone else.

Some people’s mixing is ridiculous I say that on my bonus track on the mixtape “I WON’T EVEN LISTEN IF THE SONG AINT EVEN MIXED RIGHT” I dedicate a good portion of that song to the CITY and its not a good dedication…I aint putting the city down but it just seems people can’t find there own identity. I get looked at as being to good because I choose not to do a song with this person…or talk to this person, I’m acting brand new or famous. I’m just being me…half the time people that want to do a song are just bullshiting anyway, never send the song, send the song not done, or don’t have it mixed right…and want me to rap over it. Its like this, most rappers here have a fan base that really only listens to them, but say for instance TTH and Rookie do a song, if its a hot trak TTH fans are gone become Rookie fans and Rookie fans will become TTH fans and the more a rapper collabs the more chances he got to get a bigger fan base...simple. So every only workin alone i really dont see how that will help Wichita get out there.
